Earlier this week, we informed you about Sony’s hints that a price cut for the PS Vita may finally be happening later this year in the US. Now, in a somewhat amazing coincidence, we are hearing exciting rumors that Best Buy are starting to shift PS Vita 3G hardware with a crazy price tag that any clued-up gamer would find it hard to turn down.
At the moment, if you try to buy the PS Vita 3G bundle online, you most likely be greeted with the same $299.99 price tag, which most will agree is still too expensive to even consider a purchase. We too agree that $300 for a handheld console is too much, especially when you consider that the PS4 is only going to be $100 more expensive at $399 when it launches later this year.
While $299 is too much, how does $149.99 sound instead? We’ve discovered over at CheapAssGamer that evidence is emerging that Best Buy stores are now selling PS Vita 3G units with this amazing price. As far as we’re aware, it looks like this deal is being marked as a ‘clearance’ special, which could also start rumors that Sony are already planning to introduce a new version of the PS Vita.
Best Buy are still showing $299 for the same package online, so it looks like this is an in-store special only. The store in question that has been confirmed with the $149.99 price is located in Chicago, but have any you spotted the same deal elsewhere throughout the US?
$149.99 is an incredible price for the PS Vita, which also includes an 8GB memory card by the way so you have plenty of space for your first gameplay sessions. It’s also a great price when you consider how relevant the PS Vita will become once PS4 game streaming is up and running across the majority of PS4 titles – Killzone Shadow Fall, inFamous, Drive Club, FIFA 14 to name a few.
The picture doesn’t lie, so head down to your nearest Best Buy store and get back to us if you have spotted the same deal near you.
