What has Nokia been smoking recently? The company has really turned up production a notch in 2013, churning out new Lumia based devices at a frantic pace. It’s a great thing too as devices like the Lumia 625 and Lumia 1020 are really looking like serious contenders to future iPhones from Apple and indeed great alternatives to some of the Android devices already available on the market today.
This week, it gets even better for Nokia fans. A photo has emerged over in China, appearing to suggest that Nokia now has bold plans to introduce a smartphone/tablet combo which will feature a massive 6-inch display screen. It’s not the first time that we have heard plans of Nokia wanting to eat into Samsung’s Galaxy Note pie, but this looks to be the first concrete piece of evidence of this dream becoming a reality.
The image you see here was uploaded to popular social China site Weibo, and it also shows that the device will again be running on Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform. Some additional information over at the Verge suggests that Nokia are indeed testing these large display devices, but the exciting prospect about this is that they could be coming with 1080p resolutions and quad-core processors as a minimum standard.
It’s obviously very early days yet, but could we possibly be looking at a device from Nokia which will give Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note 3 some serious competition? We really hope it happens as a neutral, as it’s about time that Nokia had some time in the limelight once again.
Let us know if you would consider picking up a 6-inch Lumia from Nokia, with a 1080p display and a quad-core processor. Would you choose it ahead of the Galaxy Note 3 as a previous lover of Nokia ‘old school’ devices?
