You have probably seen by now how the new Sony PS4 interface will look as a replacement for the XMB on PS3, but now we have some images to show you, giving you an excellent preview of how the PS4 interface will look when connecting up with a mobile device. Sony’s growing collection of Xperia devices are all set to include PS4 functionality, not to mention other Android devices as well with support for PlayStation Mobile.
We’re not sure about you, but we are getting particularly excited about the PS4 interface just because of the new support that it will have for the PS Vita. Remote Play streaming across all PS4 games straight to the handheld is a big big deal for us and it will probably only hit home to most when we see the process unfold directly on the screen.
Sony showed at E3 that the PS4 interface is going to be a lot more accessible than the XMB, with a much greater emphasis on including your friends in most of your PS4 sessions. This new social interactivity will include not only just gaming, but jumping in and out of video calls and sharing screenshots that the PS4 share button has instantly processed, as a few examples.
Sony has now submitted the PS4 console off to the FCC and with it, a new collection of images are now available for viewing. In particular, one new image which shows the general interface that you’ll see when connecting to your PS4 space on a mobile device. You’ll see information regarding trophies, achievements and an instant gameplay preview option letting you watch some quick footage.
Perhaps more exciting though, is that mobile devices when connected to the PS4 will also give you the option of starting the game directly on your PS4, with Knack shown here as an example. It looks great on first impressions and hopefully Sony will be offering a video tutorial to give us a clearer idea soon.
