The new Exynos 5 Octa chip has finally been revealed, which is expected to be the processor for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. While we cannot be sure of this, it’s almost certain that it will happen, as the Note 3 is the next big handset launch for Samsung, and we should not have that long to wait, as IFA is around 6 weeks away now.
Galaxy Note 3 CPU and GPU specs detailed – Like we said, we’re not certain if this will be the chip for the Note 3, but it’s certainly looking good, and we can tell you that if this is the case, then the performance increases will be pretty decent.
The new Exynos 5 Octa chip is said to offer 20 percent more processing power and twice the 3D graphics power as well, which is a significant jump. According to Samsung, their press release states that the latest chip will be the 5420 variant and will come with four ARM Cortex-A15 cores, with a speed of 1.8GHz, along with a quartet of Cortex-A7s with a speed of 1.3GHz, which is said to be in an big.LITTLE configuration.
Having that extra power is a huge deal, as it means we can expect a more powerful Samsung Galaxy Note 3, so will not only be smooth but offer superb Note 3 gaming performance as well. The current model is already superb at playing games; so just imagine what the sequel will be like, if the phablet gets this chip of course?
The memory bandwidth of the Exynos 5 Octa chip is 14.9 GBps, which allows for full HD WiFi display support. There’s also a new system that will help to compress images, and so perfect for loading multimedia. If this goes the way Samsung hopes, then this should allow for improved Galaxy Note 3 battery life as well, as the chip is far more energy efficient.
We are still not sure what devices will make use of the new chip, but the smart money is on the Galaxy Note 3 first, after that we cannot be sure.
