Earlier this year it was all about the McLaren P1 for the Woking based company, but don’t think for one moment that they have forgotten about the MP4-12C. The reason we say this is because a revised version has been out testing, but don’t get too excited, as it’s not a major refresh.
The 2013 McLaren MP4-12C will see just a minor facelift, along with a minor upgrade to its performance, such as increased engine performance, and maybe one or two other key areas.
You can see a bunch of spy photos of the revised McLaren MP4-12C here, and you’ll notice some of the minor changes, such as a change to the headlights and the front bumper. However, it’s the increase in performance that has us most interested, as the current 3.8-liter, twin-turbo V8 pushing out 618 horsepower will increase to around 650 horsepower. We’re not sure how they will achieve this, but knowing McLaren, it will be done with some fine magic in the software department.
Even though the MP4-12C is a great looking car, McLaren need to make a few radical changes, as she is not the best looking supercar, and is not the most fun to drive, as the computer does like to take the edge of things a little. It could do with some more flair in the design department, along with a revised interior. Having said that, she is still a beautiful looking car, it just needs to make a bolder statement, something that the McLaren P1 does, although not as much as the awesome looking Pagani Huayra.
Are you happy that this is the second McLaren MP4-12C modification in two years, and do you think they are doing this just to try and stay ahead of Ferrari? It’s like F1, but on the streets instead.
