Call of Duty Ghosts may be on the horizon as the next game in the series from Infinity Ward later this year, but this week we have some juicy rumors regarding what could be next for the franchise in 2014. It’s a known fact that Treyarch and IW usually alternate with COD releases each yeah, but new details have emerged suggesting that Modern Warfare 4 could still be the next game to release.
If it happens, it could possibly break this trend as Treyarch wouldn’t be developing Modern Warfare 4 – so you would think anyway. Infinity Ward are usually in charge of this series, but it turns out that Sledgehammer Games may have a bigger part to play on the next Call of Duty game.
Information from a LinkedIn account has turned up online over at Neogaf, referencing details from a Robert Valdivia. This man is thought to be an employee of Sledgehammer games and according to his profile, he has been working on the next Modern Warfare game – more specifically, in the ‘photo real visual effects’ department.
This is very interesting for a number of reasons. Assuming the information is correct (which it could be since it has already been deleted), then it could suggest that Sledgehammer games are developing the next Call of Duty game in 2014. It also suggests that we may see a brand new engine being used, one which could support this photo real visual effects that is mentioned above.
If that is the case, then it also leads us to assume that Modern Warfare 4 could be developed with next-gen Xbox One and PS4 consoles in mind. Considering that the profile in question has already been removed, it does seem very fishy to us. Let us know your thoughts on Sledgehammer Games possibly developing Modern Warfare 4 for next-gen consoles, with ‘photo real graphics’.
