If you have ever traveled to India, you will know that it is a very colorful country, and so it comes as no surprise that some of Nokia’s handsets do very well there. Take the Nokia Asha 501, this handset has an array of colors, and as a way to market the phone, the company is to paint zebra crossings of Mumbai the same colors used for the 501.
This is what we have to call clever Nokia Asha 501 marketing, as it will be a great way to spread the word about the new handset, and will also make the boring zebra crossing look far better as well, so it’s a win win. For now the campaign is only for Mumbai, but if successful then we’re sure it will be copied in other parts of the country, but only in the metro cities.
Now that we know how Nokia will be marketing their handset, which is a couple of months old, we thought we would take a little look to see what this handset has to offer. The Nokia Asha 501 specs are nothing fantastic, but we did not expect them to be, considering it comes with just a 3-inch display and a 3.2-megapixel camera.
The Nokia Asha 501 price in India is just Rs 5,300, although we know you will be able to find it a little cheaper if you hunt around. We would not expect you to pay over the top for this handset anyway, not when you consider the Nokia Asha 501 main features, which are at the lower-end of the market.
More details can be found in this rather interesting Nokia Asha 501 review, which you can see above. The video review has been getting a very positive reaction on YouTube, although many of the comments have been asking if the 501 supports WhatsApp? We can tell you that it does, so that’s yet another great little thing about this tiny handset.
