Atari Breakout game with Google vs. Atari online

By Updated on

It has not been a good year for the maker of Atari Breakout, a game that has memories for gamers stretching back over three decades, but fans were given a treat this year thanks to a quick Atari Breakout search in Google images that revealed an online game you can play right there and then.

Word spread and this became a popular lunchtime search for those with a bit of spare time, but there is a better version online that can also be played right from the web browser.

Atari Breakout game online in Google images vs. Atari’s website – thanks to Google being the place almost everyone goes to everyday, it is obvious that online gamers will gravitate towards Google images to play an online version of the Atari Breakout game.

We have seen a number of online polls looking at how popular this Google Easter Egg is and if they play the game anywhere else. One poll on Facebook had a few thousand votes, which painted a very clear picture of users playing this online game and how many lacked an understanding of how available a free version of Atari Breakout is as an online game.

Over 90 percent said they have visited Google Images to play the Atari Breakout game online within the last 3 months, but only 7 percent said they have played the game online anywhere else in that same time period. 29 percent said they downloaded an app in the Breakout theme for Android or iOS, which in most cases was due to the fun they had playing the Google Images version.

The official Atari website features a free game called “Super Atari Breakout” and in our opinion this version is way better than the cool Google Images hidden feature.

Visit the Atari website to play the game right here, and let us know if you have played either game this year. What Google Easter Egg game would you like to see added to Google Images next? Some of our readers might have heard about the Atari Bankruptcy news earlier this year and there’s an IP sale this month.
