The 2014 Toyota Corolla has been one of the most hotly anticipated vehicles of this year, and for good reason, as the model is one of, if not the best selling car of all time. This meant that the new model had a huge weight to carry on its shoulders and needed to deliver, and the early signs look good.

When the first 2014 Toyota Corolla review hits the web we expect it to be rather positive, that’s because the Japanese looks to have delivered, but we will have to wait and see, it’s not all about the look of the exterior and interior. Another factor is what will power the new vehicle, and there is a decent choice.

We already know what powerplants will be in the US version, but what about those 2014 Toyota Corolla UK engines? As always, there’s always an entry-level engine, and this one will be the 1.33-liter Dual VVT-I engine, which will produce 98 horsepower and will be mounted to a six-speed transmission.

Next is the 1.6-liter Dual VVT-I engine, which produces 120 horsepower, and the 1.6-liter Valvematic engine with its 130 horses under the hood. The most powerful of the petrol/gas engines is the 1.8-liter Dual VVT-I, this will produce 138 horsepower and makes use of a Multidrive S automatic transmission.

The final engine is the 1.4 D-4D turbodiesel, this is the least powerful, at 89 horsepower, but its Stop & Start technology will go a long way in making this the most fuel efficient of all five power units.

Although we already know what the 2014 Toyota Corolla specs are, along with what interior refinements there will be, there are still a lot of unanswered questions. Thankfully, the video above is an interview with Toyota HQ in California and the first question asked is possibly the most important, and that’s “what is the one thing that will get people in the showroom about the new Corolla”, and the answer is rather obvious, its looks.

The rest of the video goes on to answer questions in regards to some of the key changes to the exterior and that lovely interior.

Official 2014 Toyota Corolla pricing has yet to be released, and as for the all-new Toyota Corolla release date, the company is keeping that bit of information to themselves for now as well.
