Some of you may have an eye on snapping up a Sony Xperia Z Ultra with its monster 6.44-inch 1080p display screen, but we’re here to remind you of another big Sony Xperia device that is set to release in 2013. Details are slowly gathering pace on the elusive Sony Xperia i1 ‘Honami’ phone and it looks like we now may have the very first image to share you this week.
We have to say, that Sony are starting to emerge as a suitable smartphone alternative, away from the crazed hype surrounding Apple iPhones and other Android-based handsets from HTC and Samsung. Sony are beginning to build some lovely Xperia devices of their own and the upcoming Honami could be the one to look out for as another option in Q4 2013.
We have previously told you that the Honami is thought to be packing a massive 20 megapixel rear camera sensor, one which will feature a dedicated camera button. Now, the first picture has emerged over in China – claiming to be an official press render which you can check out for yourself here.
Pay attention and you’ll be able to spot the apparent “G Lens” branding next to the camera, which is thought to be Sony’s own branding for their glass lens material. This picture image obviously shows a white model, but we fully expect to be able to choose between a black Honami upon release – if that is to be its final name.
We’re not sure about you, but the design seems to take on a sort of ‘old school’ style in a way, reminding us of some of Sony’s very early Ericsson designs – we’re not sure if this is a good thing or not though. Hopefully it won’t be too long until we get an announcement, but in the meantime give us your initial thoughts on the phone.
