T-Mobile 4G LTE expands phone coverage

By Updated on

T-Mobile is pushing their 4G LTE phone coverage in the United States much faster than some people first thought, and in fact it looks like expansion is going faster than even T-Mobile planned with over 115 metro areas covered. T-Mobile’s 4G LTE service only launched a couple of months ago with a very limited selection of phones.

Yesterday, T-Mobile announced details of how the 4G LTE coverage is going. During their press event in NYC, T-Mobile explained that around 157 million people are now covered to use their faster data speeds in the US. This is an extra 57 million people when compared to the original plan set for this time.

They also released details on new smartphones supporting their LTE network, which includes the Nokia Lumia 925 and Sony Xperia Z. We expect T-Mobile to keep pushing 4G LTE coverage, even though you can get the service in many popular cities including Miami, Atlanta, Seattle, Dallas, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, and many more.

T-Mobile also promoted some of the new pricing for handsets on their 4G LTE plan. You can pick up the Nokia Lumia 925 on July 17 for monthly payments of $20 over 2 years and you would also need to put $49.99 down initially. The same monthly payments with $99.99 down would get you Sony’s Xperia Z.

Considering the 4G LTE push by T-Mobile, expect to see more devices added soon. The location rollout will also continue, so watch this space.
