Final Fantasy VII remake not needed after mod graphics

By Updated on

Square-Enix may have only just released the highly-anticipated Steam version of Final Fantasy VII, but we can already tell you that clever individuals have already produced their magic and have started to come up with all kinds of graphical mods to make the game look a lot better than the PS1 original.

Now, we just have a heads-up to give you an example of the progress that is being made and just how important it was for Square-Enix to finally get a version of Final Fantasy VII out on PC that was compatible with mods. As with all mods though, the process isn’t straight forward, so you will have to be pretty determined if you want to end up with a significantly better looking Final Fantasy VII.

Luckily, there are guides online that can help you along the way in achieving your goal. This great tutorial over at QHIMM tells you everything you need to know and so far – it looks like the Tifa’s Bootleg mod is proving to be the most popular option, which results in new graphics that are simply going to blow your socks off.

To give you an example of the final result that can be achieved if you have installed everything correctly, we’ve provided a video for you to check out below. We’re aware that Bootleg has been available for many months already, but we’re just highlighting it now since it also has support for the Steam release earlier this month.
