If you are looking forward to the PS4 launch this Holiday season, but more importantly being able to pick up a new DualShock4 controller in the hand, we have a very useful video for you to check out. You may not have had the chance to see Sony’s new PS4 pad up close, but now is the definitely that moment with the release of an official hands-on preview video for the first time.
The DualShock4 is going to feature a significantly different form factor compared to the DualShock3 on the PS3, largely thanks to the inclusion of a new touchpad in the center of the controller, replacing the traditional start and select buttons in the process. It will operate similar in a way to the rear touchpad on the PS Vita, offering a brand new method of input for those interested in mixing up gameplay with a combination of both button presses and now touch swipes.
Another big change is the new light bar at the back of the device, which has the ability to change colors during use. This will help players to identify which player is which during multiplayer sessions, while the light bar will also be used to communicate directly with the PS4 camera accessory for motion based games.
The start and select buttons have now been merged with the option button, while there is a great deal of excitement and anticipation, as to just how useful the PS4 share button will become, with regards to being able to record gameplay instantly just with the press of a button – and then send that video off to various social spaces online.
The video we have for you here comes courtesy of PlayStation Access, as they have managed to secure some precious hands-on time with the controller giving you a close up view. The clip also gives you an initial heads-up as to the differences for the DualShock4 triggers, compared to the PS3 triggers.
How impressed are you with Sony PS4 controller? DICE’s lead designer has already said that the DualShock4 is his controller of choice for next-generation. Do you agree, or do you still prefer the Xbox One pad layout?
