If you are a big fan of indie games and happen to own a PS Vita but have not touched Sony’s handheld in months due to a lack of games, we may have a big recommendation for you. Hotline Miami was previously available on PC as of last year, but recently turned up on the PS Vita along with a PS3 port.

Reviews for the PS Vita version of Hotline Miami are now freely available to view online, and it looks like the game could be one of the surprise successes of 2013. The port to PS Vita seemingly went under the radar of many last week, but it could be the best $10 that you have spent on a video game in a long time.

Hotline Miami is a top-down 2D action game which features a heavy emphasis on gore. We often see many action games released these day with gore taken out of the content due to rating purposes, but we’re happy to report that this won’t be the case with Hotline Miami.

Gore is certainly taken to extreme matters when playing through Hotline Miami and upon playing you’ll soon realize that this is a gem of a game and arguably even better on PS Vita compared to PC with the conversion to a 5-inch OLED screen and excellent control layout. The game is now available to find on the respective PS Stores, but it gets even better with the confirmation that Hotline Miami 2 is already being worked upon.

We recently saw Sony give assurances that they won’t be abandoning the indie scene any time soon, and putting Hotline Miami on the Vita is perfect evidence of this. Some feedback that we have seen has already highlighted Hotline Miami as potentially the best indie game of all time – quite a bold statement right there.

To give you an initial idea of what to expect from the game, check out some gameplay below. If you have already picked up the game on PS Vita, let us know your general impressions of it so far. Is it a surprise contender for one of your favorite games of 2013? How about that excellent soundtrack on top?

Oh, before we forget – Hotline Miami is also a game that qualifies for Sony’s cross-buy incentive. That means you’ll get the PS3 version as well for $9.99, complete with cross save features as well – absolute bargain.
