We have some excellent news for those of you with a BlackBerry Z10 on Verizon, as it looks like a major software update is going to be headed to your device now. Verizon has sent out word informing consumers of the impending update, and we can tell you that it is going to be packed with a host list of major few functionality, including a nice update to the Z10 camera app.
BlackBerry 10 which shipped with the Z10 out of the box is already looking great, but this is definitely the update that Verizon owners have been waiting for. The update to OS 10.1.0.2050 isn’t live yet, but could start rolling out later on Friday so that everyone can start to install over the weekend.
Verizon has detailed the list of changes that are coming with the update, such as the new ability to shoot photos with HDR, or High Dynamic Range mode – perfect for those that like the extra boost in quality when shooting pictures in varying light conditions. Another key aspect of the update is mobile hotspot, as you’ll soon be able to set your Verizon Z10 up as a personal hotspot to share your connection with other electronic devices – a PS Vita for example.
Those of you who use the calendar app regularly will also be pleased to see that BlackBerry are now adding portrait and landscape in all view modes. You’ll also be able to view emails with attachments now when using the BlackBerry Hub, which was a much requested feature that wasn’t available at launch.
If you head to Verizon’s support website here, you’ll be able to read through the entire list of new features, as well as a separate guide on how to install. As far as we’re aware, this update isn’t live yet, but let us know below if you have already received a notification OTA from Verizon to install the new version.
Are you a happy BlackBerry Z10 owner or not?
