Things have certainly changed for the American auto industry, because driver’s habits have changed over the past few years, with the biggest change being how they have embraced diesel. Okay, so there is still a long way to go, but you have to admire how American drivers are now thinking about how many miles they can get per gallon of fuel.
A fine example of this is the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel, because a few years ago General Motors released the non-diesel version to help bring the company back from bankruptcy. This vehicle certainly did the company proud, and so they now hope to gain a new audience with the introduction of the more fuel-efficient version.
If you have been contemplating getting the new Chevrolet Cruze, but are struggling to convince yourself to go for the diesel model, then maybe these reviews where they test drive the aforementioned model could help to persuade you?
In the first 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel video you get to learn all the main features of this new model, and we love how he starts the review, saying that VW should eat their heart out with this latest diesel engine – now that is a bold claim – although 600 miles between fill ups is enough to make you consider this over the gasoline version.
The second video takes us on the road with the new Chevy Cruze Diesel, where he begins with stating that GM has given the diesel engine another shot. He then gives all the main 2014 Chevy Cruze Diesel specs, such as 151 horsepower, 256 lb.ft of torque, although he believes you get a cruising range of 700 miles from a full tank of fuel, so which of the two should we believe?
With the third video, this is actually the Canadian version, and so you can only get it with the leather interior, which is no real issue. This is more of a walkaround of the vehicle and we have to say that interior is looking rather nice. When the engine starts it does not sound that bad, but when he opens the hood it gets pretty noisy, which is one of the reasons why some drivers will be put off by this engine choice.
For those who fear that the diesel option will lack power at the low end, then the final video gives you an idea of the 2014 Chevy Cruze Diesel 0-60 mph time, which we counted around 8 seconds, which isn’t that bad for a family car, with a diesel engine.
