Jay Z and Samsung have just announced some massive news for Galaxy owners over the last few hours. Music lovers and especially Jay Z fans are in for a treat. The rapper has just announced the name of his next album to be called Magna Carta Holy Grail, with a release date confirmed for July 4.
However, the big news is that Samsung has announced a partnership with Jay Z, in which one million Galaxy owners will be able to download the full album, for free. Announced during the NBA Finals, we can tell you that this offer will apply to Galaxy S4 owners, but also those who have a Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 as well – terrible news for those still rocking a Galaxy Nexus.
The album is going to be produced in collaboration with other well known figures in the industry, such as Rick Rubin, Timbaland, Swizz Beatz, and Pharrell – with the latter recently celebrating after Daft’s Punk phenomenal Random Access Memories album, to which he performed two tracks on.
Here’s the important blueprint though: On June 24, you’ll have to download a related Magna Carta app from Samsung and keep it on your Galaxy S4, Galaxy S4 or Note 2 until July 4 lands. When the clock strikes 12.01am Eastern Time on July 4, you’ll then be able to use this app to unlock and download the full album for free.
Remember that this will only be available to one million Galaxy users, so obviously many will miss out. It’s still an amazing incentive though for those that like Jay Z and have enjoyed his previous albums. The supported Galaxy device list is perhaps disappointing as well for those who don’t have one of the phones mentioned above, but then again – Samsung can’t please everyone.
Are you planning to take part in the Magna Carta Holy Grail promotion? If so, remember to set a reminder on your phone right now to download the app on June 24. Good luck everyone.
