We reported yesterday how Samsung finally made the Galaxy S4 Zoom official, and that it has an identity crisis, as it cannot decided if it’s a phone or a camera, but we do know that it does not fully embrace either, and to some could be seen as a halfhearted device.
We say this because it does not offer the best of what a smartphone can give, and neither does it for a camera. However, if you wanted the best of both worlds, because you cannot be bothered to carry two devices, then this is a pretty good solution. Don’t take our word for it though, as you will need some proof to see if it is up to the task, and so we hope these four videos gives you a greater insight into the new device.
The first video is a preview of the Galaxy S4 Zoom and we have to say from the front, it’s not a very good-looking device, as it looks like one of the more cheaper camera models. We hear right away that this is actually a camera first, and then a phone and is an expansion on the Galaxy Camera from last year.
In the second video we get to see the quality of the camera phone at night, and we have to say the sample video is good, but not great. From what we have seen in the past, the Nokia Lumia 920 has better low-light performance.
Our third video is an indoor sample, and while some of the comments would have you believe the results are impressive, we have to wonder if they are watching the same footage? The final video seems to back up our theory, as the quality is just poor. We find it hard to believe that Samsung is marketing this as a camera first and a phone second.
Maybe we should give the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom the benefit of the doubt, as these samples may have had the wrong settings selected, but what do you think?
