While we still await a sequel to the popular Kindle Fire HD, Amazon has now issued details of when they will release the Kindle Fire HD 7 and 8.9 to the Indian market, which will be on June 27, 2013. This is a huge deal for Amazon, as this will be such a massive market for the company, and so will be interesting to see how well sales will be.
The Kindle Fired HD price in India will be 15,999 rupees for the HD 7 and 21,999 rupees for the HD 8.9 inch model, which converts to $275 and $380 respectively. Amazon has been gearing up for this day for a while now, as they made the Kindle Store available to them last year, so now with these newer devices they can have access to 1.9 million-plus apps, books and games.
Consumers in India will be able to purchase these Kindle Fire HD tablets online via Amazon India, or throughout a host of brick and mortar stores, so maybe once in a while these retailers will offer incentives, reducing the price of these tablets?
Kindle Fire HD accessories for the Indian market will be limited at first, but will not take long for these third-party accessory makers to catch up. However, we do know that Amazon will be selling a variety of Kindle Fire HD covers, one of which acts a lot like the Smart Cover from Apple, meaning it will automatically wake your kindle up when you open the cover, or go to sleep when you cover it up.
Details on the Kindle Fire HD 7 for the Indian market can be found here, or for the 8.9-inch model here. Both these models will be available in hundreds retail outlets in India, which Amazon has a list of these stores and locations.
