We have some great news for those of you with a Wii U now, as just hours after Nintendo unveiled amazing new gameplay footage for the likes of Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart 8, we have some positive details to bring on the third-party situation. After initially fearing that the next Call of Duty game wouldn’t be coming to Nintendo’s system, it looks like Infinity Ward has in fact, confirmed at E3 that Call of Duty Ghosts is coming to the Wii U after all.
November 5 is going to be the date for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC versions of the game. However, Infinity Ward is also developing the game for next-gen Xbox One and Sony PS4 consoles. What hasn’t been confirmed yet is whether the Wii U will have its own release date, or if it will be available with the next-gen versions.
Whatever happens, Infinity Ward doesn’t want to talk about the Wii U version yet, as studio lead Mark Rubin revealed at E3 that they plan to keep the Wii U version ‘mysterious’ for the time being. This tells us that the Wii U version could be getting unique functionality via the GamePad, just like the excellent version of Black Ops 2.
Riley the dog will be showing up on Nintendo’s console after all and we just hope that there is no content cut from the Wii U version compared to what we’ll be getting on current gen and next gen versions. Call of Duty may have its critics, but the more major third-party games appearing on the Wii U – the better in our opinion.
Infinity Ward hasn’t set a date for the next-gen versions yet, which is the same tactics that EA are deploying for the next-gen console versions of Battlefield 4 as well. Perhaps we’ll see the Wii U version of Call of Duty Ghosts then – what do you think? Call of Duty Ghosts: The Underdog edition?
