It doesn’t matter if Tim Cook does not believe in Google Glass, it has not stopped peoples obsession with wanting to learn more about the latest device, and to see how it works. Okay, so we know that it’s not witchcraft, so what makes the thing tick?
Thankfully, someone has felt the need to answer this very question and so decided to take one and then show off their Google Glass teardown, but what has this review of the internal specs taught us?
The dissection of Google Glass was always going to garner some interest, but we do need to warn you that you should not see this as instructions to carry out your own teardown, as it’s just for information in regards to what is the Google Glass battery, sensors and also if the device can be hacked or not.
Having already seen numerous teardowns, we have to say this one is the most comprehensive, and as you would imagine requires a great deal of patience. However, there were times during this Google Glass review of the internals that required more strength rather than finesse, as a lot of glue had been used.
We were a little worried about the reparability of this device, which is something that is a bit of a concern for many products being released now, such as the Surface Pro. However, the guys had no trouble in taking Glass apart, and even managed to put it back together without any damage.
One of the main concerns was with the Google Glass battery life, so we just hope the 2.1 Wh (570 mAh) is up to the job. If it is not then though, as there is no way that you can replace it for a larger capacity. We have to wonder why Google did not go with a bigger battery, because there could be some issues for those looking to use Glass for long periods of time. However, because this is such a small device and different software, maybe this is a non-issue?
