We already knew that Samsung was going to release the GALAXY S4 zoom; we just did not know when the announcement would be made official. That time has now come, and while it’s nice to see what is essentially the GALAXY camera sequel mated to the S4 mini, we seem to be a little confused.
GALAXY S4 zoom specs – Like we said above, this is pretty much the Galaxy S4 mini working in unison with a zoom camera, but it’s the specs proves this device is suffering from an identity crisis. We say this because overall, the device looks bulky and ugly, and as for a camera, it does not offer as much as you would expect from a compact camera. However, it does serve a purpose.
As for those all-important specs, you get Android 4.2.2 running the show, a 16-megapixel sensor and 10x optical zoom as the main camera and a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera. The CPU of choice is a 1.5GHz dual-core along with 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage; which we have to say is rather low, although you can increase this with the use of a microSD card.
We already know about the phone side of things, but not so much the camera. This new model will now offer optical image stabilization, Zoom Ring, Xenon flash and several shooting modes to help produce great images.
The screen is of a low resolution, and so would have benefited from a 1080p display, and a 1.9GHz quad core processor would have been a far better choice. It’s these differences that would have took it from an average camera stuck to a phone, to a device that you would have wanted to purchase. More details can be found by visiting Samsung.
It’s clear the GALAXY S4 zoom or GALAXY Camera 2 is not for everyone, but there is a market for such a device, we just wonder how Samsung plan to market it? Personally, we believe this is a camera first and then a phone, and if this is the case, we’ll be interested to know how it compares to the original model?
