Metal Gear Solid V Kiefer Sutherland reaction is positive

By Updated on

At last, Konami has finally confirmed who will play the new voice of Snake for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Some conspiracy theorists believed that David Hayter would still be onboard in the MGS5 project, but Hideo Kojima confirmed at Konami’s pre-E3 broadcast that this will not be the case. Instead, the team have drafted in none other than Jack Bauer himself, Kiefer Sutherland as the new voice behind the iconic character.

Although many fans initially said that they will not be buying Metal Gear Solid V unless David Hayter was in the game, we’ve noticed that reception on Twitter to Kiefer Sutherland taking over the role has actually been very positive. It looks like the general consensus is that of “If David Hayter wasn’t going to be Snake, Kiefer Sutherland would be an excellent second best.”

This feeling has been echoed by the man himself, as David Hayter has already given his support to Kiefer by Tweeting that you “Can’t fault @RealKiefer. Great actor, good man. The game will probably still be excellent.” Hayter has even gone as far to change his profile picture on Twitter, to one of Kiefer in a suit.

Elsewhere on Twitter, we see plenty more good responses coming in about the move, so it looks like Konami may have somewhat redeemed themselves after all. There is always only going to be one Snake and that’s David Hayter, but at least we can now look forward to seeing what the 24 star can do with the voice.

The question is: How do you feel about Kiefer Sutherland playing the voice of Snake in Metal Gear Solid V? Are you now willing to give the game a chance, or do you still feel strongly against the axing of Hayter? Let’s hope we see his voice in action during E3 2013 to really cause some fireworks.
