It was always going to happen, an app with adult content built to be used with Google Glass, but the bad news for some of you is the fact that this app had violated Google’s developer policies, which has recently been revised. The strange thing is, this is the same app that is available on smartphones, so it’s just their eye wear that has seen a tightening of these policies.
The MiKandi developed app would have allowed wearers of the Google Glass device to enjoy watching adult content, such as videos and photos, and was seen as a way to help expand into a new platform. However, Google does not see it that way and is trying to be more like Apple with the apps they allow, just wonder if they will take this new tough stance on the Google Play Store? Speaking of Apple, it seems Tim Cook is not a fan of Google Glass, saying it has no mass appeal.
That’s not all, as CNN reports that Google will not allow any apps that include gratuitous violence, gambling, hate speech or child pornography, because if such apps are found then Google will issue harsh penalties; let us hope that the full weight of the law comes down on the that last app we mentioned. It’s obvious that Android developers will try their luck on this new platform, but Google wants their new device to not come under fire, and so these new policies can only help keep Google Glass on the straight and narrow.
MiKandi has said that they are happy to comply with the new rules set out by Google, and as such will be making several changes to their app, bit what these changes will be we do not know.
We wonder how long it will be after Google Glass is released when the first lawsuits begin to appear, as people will be accused of videoing other people without their consent? It will be much easier to record people with this device because it’s more natural to wear glasses rather than hold a smartphone up.
