As we all look forward to new Samsung Galaxy announcements at the company’s confirmed June 20 event in London, it looks like we now have a much clearer look at one of the devices that will be shown. The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active is thought to be Samsung’s rugged version of their latest flagship, and now we know that it will be headed to at least AT&T in the US.
An official-looking press render has appeared weeks before the June 20 event and it’s no surprise to see the image coming once again from specialists EVLeaks, via Unlockr. They have provided an excellent look at the AT&T Galaxy S4 Active up-close, giving you a good idea of just what Samsung intends to bring to the market in terms of ruggedness.
While the standard Galaxy S4 is available in Black Mist and White Frost colors, it looks like the Galaxy S4 Active will be offered in a single metallic-style grey option. You’ll also notice that the corners of the device have been reinforced as well, ensuring that the device will be able to withstand the hardest drops and other types of damage.
Perhaps more importantly, we actually think the sole AT&T globe branding on the back doesn’t look too bad either – almost blending into the gray matte theme nicely. Another pleasing thing to note, is that hardware specs are thought to be largely the same as the US Galaxy S4 – such as a 1.9GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor and a 5-inch 1080p-based display screen.
If we were to comment on one area that we don’t particularly like – it’s those physical buttons on the front. They look at bit outdated to us, but then again consumers who are strictly looking for a protective Galaxy S4, rather than a sexy one, may not care about this.
What are your thoughts on the Galaxy S4 Active on AT&T, will you be saving your money for this in the weeks to come?
