Snapchat is a popular photo-sharing app with a difference, as you can feel safe in the knowledge that you can share images that you would not normally upload on one of these social networking services. However, if you thought your images were safe and were deleted after several seconds, then you may want to think again.
A website has managed to grab nude photos shared on the Snapchat Android app, and were then made available on Facebook and Twitter, and as a result managed to generate over half a million likes in less than a day.
When you take an image and then share it on Snapchat, that photo is normally available to be viewed for 3 to 10 seconds, which is unlike the other popular photo sharing apps, as they do not allow nude or other compromising photos to be shared.
As we said above, there are still holes in the app, such as if you have a jailbroken device you are able to take a screenshot, where you cannot if you have a phone or tablet that has not been jailbroken. Snapchat users are not happy about this and are also embarrassed in regards to this breach in privacy.
According to The Metro, the facebook page that was sharing these photos online could face legal action, and so it was no surprise Facebook took down the page. However, this seems to have opened up Pandora’s box, as more pages have now been created.
We have also noticed that the website Snapchat Leaked seems to have been taken down, although there’s a good chance that it is constantly overloaded, which was funny, as they were said to be working with Facebook to rectify the issue users had with this Snapchat breach.
How do you feel about this breach in privacy, and do you think this could damage Snapchat in anyway?
