Popularity of the Nexus 4 has not waned much since its release, and as such you would presume LG to be behind the Nexus 5, but this doesn’t seem to be the case. We say this because LG has said they will not build the next-generation device, so who will?
Why LG will not be behind the Nexus 5 – LG has said that they have been very happy with the outcome of the Nexus 4, and still have a great relationship with Google, but they have said they would rather spend more time on their own brand devices.
Some of you will agree with this decision and would also suggest that there is no need for Nexus devices now, seeing as though the likes of HTC and Samsung are releasing Google Edition models. However, we’d just like to remind you that these are not Nexus prices, something that has made the Nexus 4 so appealing, even more so with the release of the white model.
Who will manufacturer the Nexus 5? There’s certainly no shortage of phone makers, but the top three in contention to build the Nexus 4 successor would have to be HTC, Motorola and Sony. We know that Motorola is said to be working on the Google Phone, but teaming up with their owners to release the Nexus 5 would help them on their road to recovery.
Okay, so Motorola is also releasing a stock Android device, but again the price difference between the X Phone and the Nexus 5 should be noticeable.
Going back to the news from Engadget, that LG will not be part of the Nexus 5 release, we wonder if LG believe that they do not need Google anymore and feel like going it on their own to design a similar device. Unless LG were kicked off the program because of the stock shambles when the nexus 4 was first released?
The news has certainly added to the Nexus 5 release confusion, so why do you think they will not be part of the new smartphone? Who do you think is the most likely candidate to manufacture the Nexus 5?
