Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie release disappointment at Google I/O

By Updated on

A few hours ago the Google I/O 2013 keynote took place and while there was a great deal of things to get excited about, we also came away feeling a little disappointed. The reason for this was because there was no sign of Android 5.0, or Key Lime Pie as it will be known.

With no news of the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie release as yet, maybe some of you will feel a growing disappointment, although it’s still early days and we could hear something in the coming days. However, it doesn’t look good. We have to wonder if you are happy with Google I/O 2013, and what they have shared with us so far?

The closer we got to this event the less likely it was looking to see Android 5.0 make an appearance, so you have to wonder when the next Android mobile OS will be unveiled? With no sign of the Nexus 5 or the Motorola X Phone, we cannot see it being anytime soon.

However, there is a good chance that it will be by the fall, and if this is the case, then will the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 be running Key Lime Pie, or will this have to wait because it will not be a bare bones Android device?

For now users will have to make do with the latest version of Jelly Bean, which is expected to be 4.3. Again, this was rumored to make a showing today, but was a no show. It looks as though Google I/O 2013 was more about other Android and Google features, and not the mobile OS. However, this is not a bad thing, because as you can see in the video below, there were still some great new launches and updates. The video stays the same until just under seven minutes, so we suggest you skip past the first seven minutes.
