Larger Surface Pro rival could be Sony VAIO Duo 13

By Updated on

There are some people out there who consider the Surface Pro a tablet, but it’s far more than that, because it is more of a hybrid than an iPad wannabe. With this is mind one of its nearest rivals would have to be the VAIO Duo 11, as this was a Windows 8 hybrid.

We already know that there will be a Surface Pro 2 next year, but even before the current model has been released in other countries, such as Europe, Microsoft hinted that they are working on other Surface products. However, it looks as though Sony may have beaten them with what is being dubbed the Sony Ultrabook slider.

However, upon closer inspection this could very well be the rumored Sony VAIO Duo 13, which could be classed as a larger Surface Pro, as it will not only run on Windows 8, but will have a thin keyboard and a stylus pen as well.

If you pay close attention to the video below you will see that this 13-inch device will come with a 1080p Triluminos touchscreen display. The new Sony VAIO Duo 13 specs have also been teased, in what is said to be a Dixons training video.

Firstly is the Sony VAIO Duo 13 battery life, which is expected to be around 10 hours, an Intel Core i5 processor, 4GB or RAM, 128GB SSD, just hope it does not use half of the storage capacity like the Surface Pro does for the OS and pre-installed applications. We’re also told that the new Sony 13-inch slider will come with an 8-megapixel camera, which we have to say is rather impressive.

I can’t help notice how similar this is to the 2-year-old Asus Slider SL101. Let’s hope the Sony VAIO Duo 13 will be priced for success, as Sony can often overprice their products, keeping out of reach of a huge percentage of potential customers.
