The next-gen ASRock Haswell motherboard has several surprises, one of which is it being waterproof, much like many other products being released of late. However, it’s the new demo of the motherboard that we are interested in at the moment, as it gives us some amazing details regarding the HDMI input.
If you are weary of having to keep on switching devices so that you can connect them to your single monitor, then you’ll be happy to know that you will now soon be able to connect one device to your monitor and the other to your new Haswell motherboard thanks to the HDMI-in port.
Having this extra port will allow you to change from one computer screen to another just by using a hotkey. A demo of this can be seen below and you’ll see they have connected an iPad as the secondary device. What we are impressed with is how the HDMI-In is able to function even when your computer is turned off.
ASRock has already covered some of the other next-gen motherboard features, such as the purity of the sound, and soon they will give details on 2T2R dual-band WiFi, and Home Cloud. They will also offer information on the waterproof coating, which is one of the more fascinating features.
It’s not certain why there will be this waterproof coating, although we have seen in the past that some motherboards were having issues in humid conditions, so maybe this could help resolve those issues? Although, it could come in handy for overclockers who use sub ambient cooling, but then what about the CPU, RAM, GPU and PSU, as none of them are waterproof?
Is there really a demand for a waterproof motherboard, and if so why?
