When it comes to tablets, LG is a little out of touch, as the last one they released was the Optimus Pad. You may wonder why this does not ring any bells, and that would be because the tablet was lackluster, much like their smartphones at the time.
However, LG has been doing a good job of late with their smartphone range, with the latest being the Optimus G Pro, so some would assume it is about time they jumped on the proverbial horse. Well, if a recent rumor is true, then they could be doing just that, as we could soon see a new LG tablet.
With Sony having the Xperia Tablet Z, which is the same name as their handset, maybe the Korean consumer electronics makers may call it the LG Optimus G Pro tablet, which could be a shrewd move, as consumers are already aware of the handset, and so would believe that the tablet would be just as good or better.
Sales for LG smartphones are on the increase, so it would be silly for them not to try their hand at the tablet market once again. They would certainly have it easier this time, as Android has a greater tablet market share now. If this article is correct then we could see the new LG tablet later this year, maybe in September, which is around the same time as the new iPhone.
The specs for what we are calling the LG Optimus G Pro tablet has yet to be provided, but they will need to be impressive, just as their flagship handset is. If this rumor is in fact true, then the 2013 tablet market is set to become just a little bit more crowded by the end of the year.
