HTC One juice vs. Samsung Galaxy S4

By Updated on

The HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy S4 have just been released, and while most of you will be looking at their performance, such as processor and how they handle running apps, they are pointless without a certain something, and that is a battery.

We have noticed a pattern, people crave for thinner and more powerful smartphones, but complain when the battery life is poor. What do they really expect, because while battery technology has improved, it’s unable to keep up with the constant change in other areas of a smartphone?

The HTC One is powered by a 2300 mAh Li-Po battery, compared to the 2600 mAh battery of the Galaxy S4, so how do they compare? Both phones have undergone stress tests to see how they perform, so before you see the results, which of the two do you think came out on top?

The first test involves 3G calls, and we can see that the HTC One managed to last 13 hours and 38 minutes, compared to the S4, which lasted 14 hours and 17 minutes.

Next we have web browsing, the HTC One achieved 9 hours and 58 minutes, which is pretty impressive when compared to 8 hours and 42 minutes for the S4.

The final test is for video playback. The HTC One will give you 10 hours and 2 minutes of playback, and the S4 10 hours and 16 minutes.

GSM Arena was going to give the HTC One an impressive overall score, much better than the Galaxy S4, but a poor 48 hours standby time was a bit of a setback, and so the S4 came out the winner there.

If you feel as thought these figures are not enough for your HTC One, even though they are pretty impressive, then you could get yourself a Mophie Juice Pack, which we discussed here. So if you are not too worried about the battery life of these two handsets, and would rather see which of the two is better for professionals, then we have some advice for you in a previous article.

If you have already made your choice, then please share it with us and tell us why you made your decision.

I love my HTC One, it’s the “one” for me! Pun intended. It wasn’t as though the S4 beat it by so much in these tests. I’ve had my phone a little over a week I’m a huge gamer. I start my day at 8am I don’t have to charge my phone until at least10pm. So I’m good with that!

I got my One 10 days ago and I must admit it is an impressive phone with a battery life good enough for an above average daily use.I am a heavy user and my one manages to last for at least 15 hrs. The phone is so addictive that it makes me hold it for no reason most of the times. My suggestion is to try this phone at a store before you make a decision.
    Cheers.

Decided on the one over the s4. I’m just upgrading from the evo 4g so the battery life is supercharged for me. Probably lasts 4 times as long as my previous phone. love it so far…..

ERROR: You cited the Nexus 4 3g talk time as the Galaxy S4 3g talk time. The S4 and the HTC One actually on differed by 15 minutes in that test.
