With Android Key Lime Pie expected in a few months time it’s clear to see there is plenty of life left in Jelly Bean, as the Sony Xperia Tablet S Jelly Bean update will be available for download later today. Okay, so we know it’s taken time, but better late than never.
Android 4.1.1 download goes live today at 9AM – 10AM PT for owners of the Tablet S in Canada and the US, as well as Latin America. As yet we have no idea what changes will be made or what bugs will be rectified, but once the download goes live the details will be made available on the Xperia Tablet S eSupport page.
We have to wonder why these vendors are so far behind, as this update should have been 4.2.1? However, it seems to be a trend with other Sony devices, such as the Xperia S phone. The next update was promised last month, then the first part of this month, now we have been told the update will not happen until May.
It’s these Android update delays that push more people towards Nexus devices, as they get their updates at a much faster rate. This will also be where the upcoming Motorola X Phone range will be able to take advantage, as this will also be a naked version of Android, so expect far better support.
Do you think the Sony Xperia Tablet S will ever see an update to Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie, and if it does will we have to wait until late next year before the tablet benefits from the updated mobile OS?
Once you have downloaded the update we’d love to know what changes you have come across, and if you have experienced any issue?
