The success of the Nexus 4 does not guarantee Google will want to work on a successor, as they may feel as though their energy is better spent on the Motorola X Phone, as they have a vested interest in the project. However, we find it hard to believe that they would abandon such a successful brand, and so we wait to hear news of a Nexus 5 release date, following an unveiling of course.
In recent weeks we have seen a number of rumored Nexus 5 specs, along with concept videos and renders. It’s clear those who love the Nexus 4 want the new/rumored handset, or for those of you who decided to put off upgrading soon in the hope that Google and whomever they will partner with would make an announcement.
To help wet your appetite we thought we would go over some of the most recent specs and possible release date from what has been on the grapevine. Firstly, we would like to draw your attention to the video we have embedded for you above, which goes over some key Nexus 5 features, as well as those all-important specs.
While this video shows us some of the most interesting renders, they do go over some of the specs supposedly leaked from a Google insider. If we are to believe this then the Nexus 5 has been codenamed Megalodon, and as for those specs, we have recently discussed them HERE. However, if these are close to what could appear on the Nexus 5, then the price could be a concern, as the handset would take the high-end smartphone to a whole new meaning.
We’d like to point you in the direction of some more mockups just to see which of them takes your fancy. We still have no idea as to the brand of the Nexus 5 yet, but the most recent rumor seems to suggest LG again. Although, it’s worth pointing out that Google could go with HTC or someone else because of the stock issues towards the end of 2012 and the start of 2013.
Remember, the Nexus 5 rumors we’re hearing so far a more of something to bide time and for those interested in looking for clues towards a release date, rather than facts.
