HTC Nexus 5 concept a BlackBerry Z10 doppelganger

By Updated on

From the very start the Nexus 4 has had a tough time, not because it wasn’t popular but the complete opposite. Google was unable to keep up with supply and demand, and as you would imagine they quickly laid the blame on LG, although LG blamed Google instead.

It’s taken several months but the stock issues seem to be behind them now, but you have to wonder if this has damaged LG’s relationship with Google? It’s rather obvious there will be a sequel to this popular handset, but who will manufacture the Nexus 5?

If a recent conception is anything to go by then it could be HTC. You’ll notice from the image that the HTC Nexus 5 concept looks rather similar to the BlackBerry Z10; it could actually be a doppelganger to the first BB10 device.

According to Concept Phones the Nexus 5 from HTC could come with a 4.9-inch Full HD display and be powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and 3GB of RAM. Storage has been a bit of an issue for the Nexus 4, so HTC could offer upto 64GB of internal storage, although no word if the smartphone would support a microSD card.

We are impressed with the 16-megapixel rear-facing and 3-megapixel front-facing cameras of this Nexus 5 concept. The current model has physical buttons, but in this conception you’ll notice they have been replaced with virtual ones. Finally, the juice will come from a removable 2,800 Li-Polymer battery, which does seem a little underpowered when compared to some of the new smartphones coming to market.

Whatever happens the Nexus 5 will need to be something special, as the handset will have to go head-to-head with the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the rumored Google X Phone by Motorola.

If the Nexus 5 were released this year then whom would you rather manufacture it, HTC or LG?
