If you are patiently waiting for the elusive 64GB HTC One to arrive in the US, we have some important news for you. It is fantastic news for AT&T customers, as we can confirm that the carrier will have an exclusivity deal in place on the larger storage. As a result, it will be a bitter pill to swallow for those that were waiting to pick it up on T-Mobile and Sprint.
With increasing influence on media capabilities and features within smartphones, storage space has arguably become the key factor in the decision process of buying or upgrading a smartphone. 64GB of storage on top of extra memory via MicroSD cards is a wonderful luxury to have for those that can afford it and now AT&T customers can revel in the fact that they’ll be able to enjoy this feature ahead of any other carriers in the US.
A new promo video released by AT&T confirms the good news, as you’ll see it before your own eyes at the 0.26 mark. While this is obviously good for those already on AT&T or indeed planning to switch to the carrier, it could be a deal-breaker for those on Sprint and T-Mobile.
With Verizon out of the picture as they prioritize the HTC Droid DNA, the HTC One is expected to be one of the biggest releases of the year for current Sprint and T-Mobile users. Many had overlooked the fact that the One doesn’t have support for MicroSD cards, but only if the 64GB model was freely available on every carrier.
Now that it has been confirmed that this isn’t the case – does it mean that you will now look elsewhere at a different handset? More specifically, it could mean that HTC loses a lot of business from Sprint and T-Mobile users who now plan to pick up the Samsung Galaxy S4 instead.
Let us know what importance internal storage has for you and whether 64GB is a massive deal for you. Is it disappointing that the AT&T model gets 64GB and other carriers do not, given the fact that it is such an important aspect of the phone?
