We have some pretty terrible news to bring you now, as Battlefield 4 developers DICE have confirmed that the upcoming game will not be coming to the Nintendo Wii U. For a system that is in dire need of some big name games this year – this is certainly a massive blow that isn’t going to help Nintendo’s situation any further.
We are big fans of the Wii U, but after the Rayman Legends incident, it now seems as if things have taken a turn for the worse. Third party games is the big area in which Nintendo needs to make ground on, but this Battlefield 4 snub is surely going to send shockwaves throughout the industry.

It is particularly painful when we think back to those who had previously claimed that the Wii U hardware is significantly more powerful than the Xbox 360 and PS3. If that is the case, then why are DICE not releasing the game on the system? Is it actually a case of EA not wanting to do it perhaps?
At the end of the day though, Battlefield 4 isn’t coming to the Wii U as a fact. DICE creative director Lars Gustavsson has revealed in an interview that they didn’t want to take ‘risks’ or ‘stretch themselves too thin’ by bringing the game out on Nintendo’s system. He has also said that the team prefer to ‘play it safe’ as well, which probably won’t make Wii U owners feel any better.
Based on DICE’s explanation above, it seems that the Wii U hardware isn’t up to the job then compared to the Xbox 360 and PS3? It will be interesting to see if Modern Warfare 4 lands on the Wii U in a few months. Let us know your reaction to this bombshell and whether you think it is all PR-mush and the fact that there is probably a deeper reasoning behind closed doors.
