For those of you who have been waiting to get your hands on the Nexus 7 in India, then you will be pleased to learn the ASUS tablet is finally available to purchase via the Google Play Store in the country. However, before you get too exited, there are limitations with the storage options.
The 16GB Nexus 7 is currently the only storage option available to the Indian market at this time, but this should change once Google and ASUS are able to evaluate if the tablet has proved popular or not. We’re told the price for the Nexus 7 in India is Rs. 15,999, which converts to $295.
To some this seems a little expensive and could prove an issue in a market all about value for money. It’s hard to say if such a price will affect sales or not, but if it does then this could cause an issue for the larger storage capacity being released at a later date.
The tablet will begin shipping to the Indian market from April 8, 2013, but this has only opened up old wounds, yes we are talking about the availability of the Nexus 4 in India. This handset by LG and Google has been expected to see a release in India for sometime now, and even though the release of the Nexus 7 in the country is seen as a good sign, we have to remind you that both companies have been unable to agree on a competitive price, and as such have caused this delay, which is explained in more detail in this report.
However, things are looking more positive now, although they cannot expect to release the Nexus 4 in India if they cannot even get the pricing of the Nexus 7 correct.
Do you believe Google is getting rid of their stock before the 2nd-generation Nexus 7 is announced?
