There’s no getting away from the fact Google’s biggest competitor when it comes to the release of the Motorola X Phone will be from rival Android devices, so the Samsung Galaxy S4, Note 3 and also the rumored Nexus 5. It’s the latter smartphone that could pose the most threat as this may be released in November, which is supposedly around the same time as the X Phone.
While we have no idea as to what the Google X Phone specs will be, Phone Arena suggests we could see a 4.8-inch Full HD display with Sapphire Glass, 2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, an impressive 4000 mAh battery and possibly waterproof protection like the Sony Xperia Z.
However, the X Phone could also have several customizable options, as this could help drive costs down for those who don’t need all the top features, yet still wants to be the proud owner of the new Motorola handset.
Okay, so we know the upcoming Google X Phone could upstage the release of the Galaxy S4, along with being a huge threat to the Galaxy range if Google gives the new handset range a huge push, but Google will also wish to market the Nexus 4 successor as well.
As yet we have no idea who will be making this or even if it will be called the Nexus 5; but the current Nexus 4 has proved so popular that a successor has to be a sure thing?
We do have an issue with the proposed November release date though; by then the Galaxy S4 will be over 6 months old and will no doubt have a price cut in that time, so Motorola needs to release the X Phone way before November. It’s worth remembering the next iPhone would have launched a couple of months before November as well.
