Over the years the amount of hours I’ve spent playing strategy games would be shocking, and while keeping a tally of those hours is impossible it would include at least 1,000 hours of playing Age of Empires 2. The high definition edition will release in 2013 many years after its first launch, which will be available to download on steam for just under $20.
The Age of Empires 2 HD release date is set for 9 Apr 2013, although sadly this version is only for PC users through steam. The game will include new features as well as being remastered to HD, and we’re sure that thousands of gamers would love to bring back some of their past gaming memories by playing the new HD version.
At the start of March a new trailer launched to promote Age of Empires 2 HD, which we’ve embedded the video below this article for any of our readers that haven’t seen it. The announcement trailer has had almost 1 million views, which alone shows how popular this game once was and could be again when it releases in a couple of weeks.
While we hope to see a Mac version later on, we can confirm there’s no current plans for this. You can play single player offline but if you want to get in on the multiplayer action, then you’ll need to connect to steam. When playing online you will be able to join in with up to 8 Players, invite friends to custom games, use the game lobby browser and also benefit from a quick-match feature for those that want to get started right away.
Will you be downloading Age of Empires 2: HD edition from steam?
