At the start of the month, we told you how EA were planning to compensate Sim City buyers on the PC with a free game download as a way of apology for all of the server status problems that gamers have been experiencing. This week, we can finally bring you a list of those free games and we’re pleased to say that the list is actually quite generous indeed.
Some of you had been fearing that EA may decide to be mean and offer a list of free games that nobody wants to play just to save themselves some money – especially after the infamous ‘free Battlefield 1942′ offer with BF3 which they initially didn’t commit to.
However, EA has now revealed a choice of eight games that gamers can choose from, but only if you register your existing copy of Sim City – you’ll have until March 25 to do so though, so plenty of time. The list of games are Battlefield 3, Mass Effect 3, Medal of Honor: Warfighter, Dead Space 3, Bejeweled 3, Plants Vs Zombies, Need for Speed Most Wanted and finally – Sim City 4: Deluxe Edition.
We have to say that we didn’t expect to see the likes of Battlefield 3 and Mass Effect 3 on that list so it is a pleasant surprise from EA on this occasion. It goes without saying that BF3 will have hours upon hours of longevity value, although you will need to purchase the DLC expansions separately if you want to make the most out of the game.
We have a feeling that Battlefield 3 is going to be top of the list for a lot of you, although Medal of Honor: Warfighter may be a useful selection as well. We say that because users may still be eligible for the Battlefield 4 beta, by getting this copy of Warfighter on Origin. It’s not confirmed yet at the moment, but that will be a nice incentive if the offer still stands.
What are your thoughts on the free list of games? Which one will you be choosing to download?
