When we heard rumors that the iPad 5 would be released in April we pretty much knew this was never going to happen, but when we were told it could be similar to the iPad mini in design we paid attention to the report. The reason for this is because it could be a huge deal for Apple since sales of their larger tablet have not been as healthy as we have seen in the past.
With rumors suggesting the iPad 5 features a bezel similar to the mini, it’s something we can see happening for several reasons, all of which are sure to help bolster sales once again. Just imagine the advantages of a 5th-generation iPad that will have an iPad mini thin bezel, as this would make the tablet not only thinner in depth but width as well.
Over the years the iPad has seen some significant changes to its hardware, but the design has been stagnant since the iPad 2. However, the iPad 5 could have a massive difference in design by taking ideas from the iPad mini, and could be as big of a change since the first to second generation.
So why would you want to upgrade to the fifth generation iPad? While the main reason for people to buy the iPad mini was its cheaper price, it was also the size and weight difference as well. With this in mind the iPad 5 could stick with its current screen size but because the bezel would be much the same as the mini the size of the iPad 5 could be a lot smaller than the current version, which would be a major factor in your buying decision.
Okay, so we know the iPad 5 features will also need to see several improvements in order to combat rivals, but still having a full size tablet while having a smaller form factor and lighter in weight will make the likes of Samsung and ASUS sit up and think.
In closing – We know that the iPad mini has proved very popular with sales said to be greater than the full-size version, but some people have held off getting one because they still love the bigger screen, so the iPad 5 could be the best of both worlds, although the price will still be an issue for some potential buyers.
