Looking at a recent news report it looks as though the release timeline for the Nexus 7 successor and iPad mini 2 in 2013 share the same similarities as last year, which means that the ASUS tablet should land first with the Apple device bringing up the rear.
Many of us are expecting Google to announce the release of the Nexus 7 2nd-generation in May with a release a few months after, which is certain to be before the iPad mini 2nd-gen as this will not be expected to be released to the public until October, even though there had been rumors of a much earlier showing.
It’s tough keeping up with these rumors and it’s hard to know what ones we should pay attention to. The latest rumor regarding the release dates for the Nexus 7 and iPad mini successors has been keeping a close eye on the supply chain, but still, we should not read anything into these just yet.
Both versions of these tablets are expected to receive an upgrade to their displays, but the iPad mini 2 with its rumored 2,048 x 1,536 pixels compared to the Nexus 7 successor and its 1,920 by 1,200 display has the edge – if true of course.
Looking at the current two tablets from Apple and ASUS we expect the iPad mini 2 to have the edge once again in various departments, such as more screen area and better battery life. Let’s hope that ASUS is able to up the ante and improve in these areas, as well as trying to get the weight and thickness down at the same time.
However, in order to achieve this they may need to increase the price a little, although they could find it tough to do so considering Apple is less likely to increase the price of the iPad mini 2.
