The wait for Battlefield 4 news is finally going to be over very soon. We recently showed you a poster from EA asking gamers to ‘save the date’ for March 26. At the time they provided a potential tease of Battlefield 4, but now we can confirm that it is definitely happening on this date during GDC 2013.
It now means of course that we are going to find out about the next-generation Battlefield 4 game before E3 2013 kicks off in June, which is a little bit surprising. DICE and EA are now sending out invites to ‘celebrate the new era’ of Battlefield, with a massive Battlefield 4 logo plastered in the middle for everyone to see.

Along with the invite is a blurred image as well, but we can also tell you that this image has already been deciphered to possibly reveal one of the locations in the game as Shanghai, China. One image in particular is very reminiscent of the Shanghai harbor view showing the iconic towers and tall buildings – as you’ll see in the image above provided by Eurogamer Czech.
The question that we want to know is whether this now suggests that the game will have a modern day setting, and whether the story mode will be set just in Shanghai, or if its just one location of many. Shanghai would be an exciting choice if true though and we would definitely like to see a modern day setting for a change after playing BF3 endlessly.
Will Battlefield 4 be ready as a next-gen launch title on the Sony PS4 and Microsoft’s next Xbox console? It would be perfect timing at the end of the year since gamers have only just received the final DLC expansion for Battlefield 3. Let us know your thoughts on a possible modern-day setting for Battlefield 4 given this Shanghai teaser above.
Is this a great move for the series or not?
