If you have been patently waiting for the release of the Nexus 7 Dock on the Google Play Store, then the news that it was made available to purchase yesterday would have pleased you. However, that joy was short lived because the docking station was out of stock within hours.
We are uncertain why these docks are already out of stock, but the price tag of $29.99 could be one reason. However, this puts doubt on Google’s ability for supply and demand on actual physical products, the Nexus 4 stock farce is a fine example of that.
The price of the Nexus 7 dock was around $10 cheaper than third-party retailers offering the same accessory, so it’s understandable why there was a huge demand, although running out of stock after a few hours is still no excuse no matter how popular it was.
For those of you who were lucky enough to get your order of the Nexus 7 Dock in you will have to wait about 2 weeks for shipping. It’s worth reminding you that while the handset and docking station does not support HDMI you can still listen to your music and play videos while the tablet is charging.
As yet Google has not offered any sort of update as to when more stock will become available, but they need to get more units in so that owners of the ASUS Nexus 7 tablet don’t have to go to the likes of Amazon and pay a premium just to get the dock.
