Just last week we discussed how confusing the whole processor saga was for the next Samsung flagship handset, and it seems as though the Samsung Galaxy S4 quandary regarding the processor still persists. We are still uncertain as to which chip the South Korean phone maker will use, but if we are to believe recent reports, then it might not be the Exynos 5 Octa.
It’s looking less likely that the processor mentioned above will be used to power the S4, but that’s not really an issue for Samsung, as they have a range of other CPUs to fall back on.
We have to wonder if we are all not making a huge fuss over this, because surely Samsung would have not left it this late to decide and they would have been made aware from the start that there could have been an issue with manufacturing their chosen processor?
There is a recent report from an analyst suggesting that Samsung has had to delay the release of the Galaxy S4 because of this CPU issue. He believes that Samsung would have already released their new flagship device by now if it were not for these latest issues.
However, we have to remember that these are just rumors because there is no evidence that they were going to release the S4 so early.
The biggest hole in this latest rumor is the fact that it is widely assumed that the Exynos 5 Octa will be used in the Galaxy Note 3, because it will have higher specs. Having said that, if this is true then it is looking more likely that Samsung will have to outsource more of their hardware.
The Exynos 5 Octa was first announced during CES (see video below) where they offered us a review of what this new CPU could offer, if in the right device that is. As you can see the gaming potential with this processor is truly remarkable, which is why this could be better in the Note 3 becasue of its larger display.
