C7 Corvette ZR1 specs to include 700 horsepower

By Updated on

With the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray being one of the big talking points from the previous two US auto shows, we know just how loved this upcoming vehicle will be. However, when we hear rumors that the C7 version will offer 700 horsepower in the C7 Corvette ZR1 we just are filled with excitement.

The base model already looks impressive when you look over the specs, with the 2013 model pushing out 505HP, although this can be boosted to 600 horsepower.

However, knowing that the 2014 ZR1 will use a turbocharged version of the V8 is sure to raise a few eyebrows, just hope they do not do a convertible version – unless they make some significant upgrades to the strength and agility first.

Going back to the engine, Motor Trend suggests that it will be an evolution of the LT1 V-8 in the 2013 C7 base model, which we have discussed on a number of occasions.

We do fear that those who purchase one of these more powerful versions could hurt themselves or others, as we have seen over the years that while cars become faster our ability to handle that power has not advanced.

It doesn’t matter what sort of fancy technology car manufacturers incorporate in order to keep all four wheels firmly on the gray stuff, a fine example of this can be seen in this video – we bet he felt like a right tool?

As you would imagine Chevrolet has yet to comment on the rumors of a 700hp turbocharged engine in the Next-Gen Chevy Corvette ZR1, but lets hope it’s the real deal.
