The Samsung Galaxy S4 may be the smartphone that most of you are looking to buy in the next few months, but LG has now attempted to ruin those plans by officially announcing the LG Optimus G Pro at last. It features a gorgeous 5.5-inch display, which features a curved glass effect prompting LG to label it 2.5D, amongst many other impressive features.
We told you earlier about the $10,000 Vertu Ti which comes with lovely materials, but not very impressive hardware specs. The same can definitely not be said about the LG Optimus G Pro though, as LG are packing a full 1080p HD 5.5-inch display along with a 1.7GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor and a high quality 13MP camera.
On top of that the device is also very impressive in other areas with 2GB of RAM, a pleasing 3140mAh battery, 32GB of internal memory and room for further storage expansion via MicroSD. The 2.5D display is very interesting though and looks noticeably sharp in the few press images that LG has already released.
Unfortunately, there doesn’t appear to be any UK or US availability for the Optimus G Pro, but the device will be shown off in more detail at the upcoming MWC 2013 expo in Barcelona later this month. Hopefully this will give us and the world an opportunity to demonstrate just what the 2.5D feature is capable of and whether it is just a marketing gimmick by LG or the real deal.
The design looks like the Galaxy S3 on the front and the Nexus 4 on the back, which is interesting since they built the Nexus 4 and consumers seemed to love the glitter effect on the back. Does this now change your plans to buy the Galaxy S4? Those hardware specs are some of the best we have seen in 2013 so far – let’s hope it gets better and better throughout the year.
