Apple looks set to have a very busy and prosperous year if we are to believe that they will release 3 new iPhones and an iWatch this year. As always we have to take these rumors for what they are, but one of the rumored smartphones is said to be a budget iPhone, and while Apple has not made any comment on this, we were interested in what Tim Cook had to say on the matter.
Obviously he did not deny or confirm that there was to be a cheaper version of the iPhone this year, but he did say that they are looking at ways to make their products more affordable. He made a point of saying that when the iPod was first released it cost $399, but then they introduced the Shuffle for $49.
In an interview, Cook went on about how they wanted to make an alternative version instead of how they can cheapen the one they have, and that is what we found interesting. This is just an idea, so don’t ridicule me for it, but could it be possible that the so-called budget iPhone could actually turn out to be Apple’s iWatch?
Most of what we know suggests that the iWatch or whatever Apple would call the rumored device would work in unison with your iPhone. But what if it was a phone, but on a much smaller scale and with limited features? It’s expected that Apple’s watch could make greater use of Siri, but we don’t expect it to play games, videos or even surf the web, but it could make calls and even sync to your iPhone for a far greater experience.
However, we could be wrong and the iWatch could just be a device that will need to sync with your iPhone, and if the latest rumor is true then Apple could be putting a huge amount of resources into the project. According to Bloomberg there could be as many as 100 designers working on the new devcie.
