BlackBerry Q10 release in US staggered

By Updated on

The touchscreen-based BlackBerry Z10 may be receiving all of the limelight at the moment, but for some BlackBerry purists out there, the focus is still on the BlackBerry Q10 which will be the first QWERTY-based device to run on BlackBerry 10. Unfortunately, we have some disappointing news to bring to some of you, as we hear that the handset isn’t due to hit the US market until sometime in May.

Considering that the Z10 is supposedly scheduled for March, that is quite a long wait that consumers face to get their physical keyboard fix on the brand new operating system. At RIM’s initial press conference, the Q10 was thought to be releasing in the US sometime in April.

However, CEO Thorsten Heins has said in a recent interview that the Q10 is now likely to launch after eight to ten weeks after the Z10 arrives in the US. It’s an even more painful pill to swallow when you consider the fact that the Z10 is already available to buy in places like the UK, when US consumers have to wait their turn – the very same situation that Galaxy S4 fans will find themselves in when the device releases first in Europe and then US afterwards.

It will all come down to how bad you really want the first BlackBerry 10 phone with a QWERTY keyboard though, and if you deem the device to be glamorous enough in comparison to the sexy Z10. Verizon, AT&T and Sprint are all thought to be on board for the Q10 release when the time is right, so which carrier will you be opting for?

Are you happy with the device design wise, or did you want the Q10 to be more visually impressive like the Z10? You can argue that the Q10 still carries the same design traits as the Bold.

If you are with AT&T or T-Mobile (or any subsidiary companies) then you can buy the phones from Canada, unlock them and drop in your sim card. I would love to see American carriers loose sales because they drug their feet
